It may seem a stretch to call land along a narrow canal waterfront property, but this area of Old Town Scottsdale sports toney high-rise condos, loft apartments, high-end restaurants and an assortment of boutiques and shops. The canal slices across Scottsdale Waterfront Residences, whose two 13-story residential towers contain 99 condos each, and in Optima Camelview Village.
Although families and empty-nesters have moved into these condos, they are particularly attractive to singles looking for a nearby cup of coffee in the morning and vibrant entertainment at night.
Despite some of the million-dollar price tags, there are affordable homes in this area. According to the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service, the median home price in this 3-square-mile area of ZIP code 85251 is $185,000.
Location: This area stretches along the Arizona Canal on either side of Scottsdale Road from approximately Camelback Road to Osborn Road.
What's for sale: There are 599 homes listed for sale in the 85251 ZIP code. Home prices go to a high of $4,165,000, according to ARMLS.
Parks/amenities: Walk to such restaurants as Metro Brasserie and Bar, Cowboy Ciao and Olive and Ivy Restaurant, and to various shops and boutiques. Also close by is Scottsdale Fashion Square with Barneys New York, H&M, Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus and more than 250 retail stores and restaurants. Some of the Valley's hottest nightlife is also within walking distance, in addition to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and art galleries located near Fifth Avenue Shops.
